ANEAU is a contemporary Australian lifestyle brand exploring the sequence of stories that weave us together. Modern textiles celebrating traditional techniques.
An aneau is a small circular band of metal. ANEAU the label is an infinite ring; of women, of connections and of thoughtfully designed items with stories to tell.
ANEAU is intrigued by age-old traditions, and yet at the same time, is always curious to discover and celebrate what’s next. ANEAU’s first collection is a range of hand-sewn quilts for the home. The quilts are designed in Sydney and made in partnership with the Purkal womens foundation in a rural village in the foothills of the Himalayas. Conscious, considered and meaningful exchange underpins every ANEAU design and collaboration.
“The experience of receiving a beautiful handmade quilt from a loved one is such a special and unique thing,” says Anna Westcott, ANEAU’s creative director. Like the best family heirlooms, all ANEAU items are made to last and should be used and adored. These are products that seek to start conversations, ignite relationships and unlock forever boxes.
About Anna Westcott
Designer Anna Westcott launched ANEAU in September 2016, but the story doesn’t begin there. The Sydney designer’s grandparents were both tailors, and a respect for tradition, art and more specifically, of quilting, was instilled early on in life. Westcott made her first quilt, Swan Song, with her grandmother Joan and mother Margaret. She was taught by these women that the stories behind an object are often just as interesting as the objects themselves.
Anna has released two more product lines with ANEAU since the release of the quilts and hopes to continue to evolve the beautiful products and build long lasting relationships with all the people she partners with.
